Detailed itinerary

DAY 1 - Arrival Day

Arrive at Bari airport and transfer to your hotel for a welcome stroll and aperitivo!

DAY 2 - Matera

An entire day to explore Matera with your guide. In Matera everything is about caves, people live in them, eat in them. These ancient neighbourhoods are called Sassi. Matera is one of the world’s most unique and spectacular places to visit.

DAY 3 - Matera

Explore the outskirts of Matera and walk back into town for further exploration. Get involved with locals in making little music instruments to take home.

DAY 4 - Montalbano

The deep engravings of the badlands, which develop as far as the cultivated fields which flank the valley of the Agri river, are a perfect place for a good walk. Then tour the ghost town of Craco, set amidst the badlands made famous by Carlo Levi’s novel Christ stopped at Eboli.

DAY 5 - Vulture

Get acquainted with Basilicata’s north, so different from the rest. After a beautiful walk around a lake, sample the world famous Rionero del Vulture and explore the town of Melfi.

DAY 6 - Lucan Dolomites

Spend the day in a natural park for a strenuous but unforgettable walk between Pietrapertosa and Castelmezzano. The landscape here is different yet, these mountains look like the Dolomites, nature here is wilder, harsher and yet spectacular.

DAY 7 - Altamura

Today’s walk leads us through the park of Alta Murgia, characterized by a striking succession of ridges, sinkholes, rolling hills, sinkholes, extended natural pastures and cultivated fields, stone farms and endless networks of dry-stone walls. Learn all about the production of local bread of Altamura.

DAY 8 - Departure

Transfer to Bari airport for Departure.
