Spend a holiday in this typical Italian picture -postcard landscape with rolling hills, cypress trees along the roads, vineyards and olive groves.
This is the quintessential Tuscan landscape.
Manmade, once dry and barren, it has been transformed into one of the most productive and beautiful regions in the world, dotted with fine art and architecture, small villages, villas and castles, separated by a patchwork of open fields, pastures and vineyards.
Through the year, the landscape changes its colours but is always a delight to watch.
History here has been handed down over the generations until today, it attracted the great Renaissance architects, the Grand Tour travellers. Everything is dominated by Mt. Amiata, a former volcano with incredible flora and fauna.
The Via Francigena, an ancient pilgrim route from Canterbury to Rome, crosses this stretch of land and contributed to the economic development of the area through the centuries. Here, foreigners are always welcome and will always be.
Montalcino is home of the famous Brunello wine.
A tiny village with world fame. After a tour through the village, walk the famous vineyards and have a stop at a renowned winery for sampling the Brunello di Montalcino.
Walk back to Montalcino on a different route and enjoy some free time there.
The ultimate walk in southern Tuscany on its only real mountain, through thick forests, along natural water springs all the way up the summit for a well-earned lunch and the most incredible mushroom soup. In the afternoon visit the ancient town of Abbadia di San Salvatore before getting back to the hotel.
